Newsweed nominated for International Media of the Year at the Business of Cannabis Awards 2025
Newsweed, and its founder Aurélien Bernard are shortlisted for Journalist of the Year at the Business of Cannabis Awards to be held in London in 15 days' time.
The Business of Cannabis Awards, now in their second year, have quickly established themselves as a benchmark for excellence in the European cannabis sector. With categories ranging from innovation and production to clinics and journalism, the awards aim to recognize the people, organizations and ideas that drive the sector forward.
The 2025 ceremony will take place on June 24 at 83 Rivington Street, in London's Shoreditch district, at the end of the first day of the Cannabis Europa, a major gathering of leaders and policy-makers in the cannabis sector.
Aurélien Bernard's appointment for the second year running underlines the growing recognition of the influence of Newsweed beyond France's borders. While last year's award went to Laura Ramos, editor-in-chief of the Portuguese magazine CannaReporter, Our continued presence among the finalists is testament to our enduring contribution to cannabis journalism in Europe and beyond.
Founded in 2015, Newsweed has become a central source of cannabis information for the French-speaking public, covering topics ranging from policy changes and international market trends to scientific developments and citizen movements. Newsweed's editorial approach combines an acute understanding of regulatory frameworks with a deep respect for the cultural and historical nuances of cannabis, offering readers a unique European perspective on a rapidly globalizing industry, without proselytizing or taking sides on the different cannabis regulations around the world.
The «International Journalist of the Year» category rewards journalists whose work has helped shape global understanding of cannabis and fostered informed public debate. This year, Aurélien Bernard is joined on the shortlist by an impressive line-up of international reporters: Sarah Sinclair, Ben Stevens, Laura Ramos, Moritz Förster, Lukas Hurt and Mauro Picavet.
Each nominee brings a distinctive voice and angle of coverage, which serves all of us well. So we regularly collaborate with some of the nominees to offer comprehensive information on all our platforms in our preferred language and with our personalized bylines.
This recognition is not just personal, but reflects the importance of independent, specialist cannabis journalism in Europe.
