The new Diablo Rojo XL Auto®: A born champion from Sweet Seeds®.

The road to glory is often paved with dedication and hard work. Thanks to the determination and perseverance of a great cannabis grower and the R&D department at Sweet Seeds®, one of the seed bank's new strains, Diablo Rojo XL Auto® (SWS110), has been awarded the 1st place as best new autoflowering variety 2024 at the Autoflowering World Cup, recently held in Barcelona.

In November 2023, a well-respected cannabis grower from Portugal, known as GreenForce, gained exclusive access to a few seeds of several strains that Sweet Seeds® would commercialize later, in early 2024. With one of these seeds, he took part in the Autoflower World Cup held on Saturday March 16 at Barcelona's OG Club, at the same time as Spannabis.

Diablo Rojo XL Auto®, the 2024 world champion

For the occasion, a single seed of Diablo Rojo XL Auto was used. The result was a unique marvel, which germinated just 36 hours after being placed between two wet paper towels and grown hydroponically.

From the earliest stages, Diablo Rojo XL Auto® showed remarkable vigour and excellent health. Around 30 days after’appearance of cotyledons, After a few weeks, the plant began to produce pistils, which clustered densely with the calyxes to form the first flowers a week later.

It was at this point that Diablo Rojo XL Auto® began to reveal its beauty, displaying magnificent purple hues in the first calyxes, the result of a high concentration of anthocyanins. It should be noted that these colorful characteristics are intrinsic to the genetic composition of this autoflowering variety, attributed solely to anthocyanins. As a result, the bright purple flowers develop naturally, without the need for exposure to low temperatures or nutrient deficiencies.

The strength and stamina of a great competitor

By mid-flowering, the plant had reached a remarkable size. The plant developed an exceptional number of thick, robust side branches, while reaching a total height of around 110 cm. Each lateral branch resembled an individual plant, as the main cola of each branch resembled most of the main colas of the single autoflowering plants we usually encounter. At this stage, the aromas were truly astonishing. Sweet, fruity smells with hints of cola filled the room.

By the end of flowering, even the side branches were producing high-calibre flowers, while the main apex was made up of over 30 cm of several flowers. The grower also noted that Diablo Rojo XL Auto® is an excellent choice for resin extraction, producing a wonderful, purple dry-sift hash with high-quality aromas. In addition to the sweet, fruity fragrances present at mid-flowering, when the flowers are ready to be harvested, subtle citrus and incense notes join the party, for a legendary organoleptic experience.

The effects of this strain are a little on the Indica side and generally include a good dose of happiness and relaxation, stimulating creativity at the same time.
