Is Auchan going into cannabis cultivation?
This apparently isn't an April Fools« joke, but more likely an unfortunate »oversight" in the images used to illustrate an LED panel designed for indoor gardening. Auchan illustrates one of its lamps with beautiful cannabis plants in full bloom, as shown in our screenshot below—an oddity that has been pointed out by many internet users.
When we contacted him, a seller of horticultural LEDs explained that, on paper, the LED’s technical specifications aren’t «too shabby.» The lamp’s 50 watts would allow you to grow a small cannabis plant in a small space and yield a harvest of about 20 grams, provided you take care to choose a autoflowering plant, meaning that their flowering cycle does not depend on a specific alternation between day and night. Autoflowering strains also require less light than regular or feminized varieties, and their light requirements are more in line with what the Auchan LED panel can theoretically provide. At €89.82, this is an attractive entry-level price, with free delivery via Auchan Drive within 2 to 3 weeks.
However, the only review of this lamp raises doubts about the panel's actual effectiveness (unless it's just an ad for a reputable LED website :D).
It’s worth noting that Auchan doesn’t sell this LED grow light directly. The product is actually listed on the Auchan marketplace and is sold by Auto-Hightech, a store specializing in electronic gadgets—which seems to have a secret or unspoken penchant for weed.
It therefore seems very likely that the image is part of the product’s technical specifications, which can indeed be used to «grow» weed (in small quantities—the greenhouse visible in the screenshot is more of a pipe dream), and was not removed during the upload.
We're waiting for a response from Auchan to confirm this for you!
3:00 p.m. update: The product is (strangely enough) no longer available 😉 For now, you can find the original page via the Google cache.
