The next Cannabis Cup will be held in France
Taking advantage of a legal loophole between the two rounds of the presidential election, High Times has decided to hold its next Cannabis Cup at the Parc Floral de Vincennes, on the outskirts of Paris, on April 29 and 30, 2017.
David Kohl, the CEO of High Times, explains: «The 1970 law restricting the possession and use of cannabis in France was passed on December 31 by drunken lawmakers. No doubt a little tipsy, they failed to notice that their legislation did not apply to the period between the two rounds of a presidential election. We are therefore delighted to confirm that we will be present in France, much to the delight of cannabis enthusiasts across the country.»
We can also reveal a little more about the artists performing—a lineup that put Coachella to shame : Action Bronson, Snoop Dogg x Wiz Khalifa, and Cypress Hill will headline the first night, while the next day, the lucky few will get to see a show by the Up in Smoke Tour, followed by a holographic performance by Bob Marley. It was an unprecedented event, living up to the nation’s expectations for such a festival.
As for attractions, numerous booths run by professionals are expected: glassblowing, extraction demonstrations by French professionals, a greenhouse full of plants designed to showcase the plant’s diversity, hash production by Frenchy Cannoli, and even dispensaries where visitors can buy tested, high-quality products. Visitors will also be searched at the entrance to ensure that not even 1 gram of adulterated weed is brought in (if it’s pure, that’s fine), in order to promote responsible and healthy consumption.
As for risk reduction, Customs will have a booth to provide information on the dangers of prohibition, and user groups—who are always invited to these kinds of events—will be able to test festivalgoers’ substances to ensure a safe and incident-free festival.
Of course, reactions on Twitter were quick to follow:
Tickets will go on sale Monday on Newsweed.fr (or not) 😉
