About Newsweed

At Newsweed, we believe that comprehensive, unbiased information on cannabis is one of the keys to understanding this amazing plant. Far beyond the sphere of the «little joint in the evening on the couch', cannabis touches on all aspects of our society: health, social, justice, economics, agriculture, chemistry, science...

Bringing true, sourced and verified information about cannabis, while taking into account the legal, scientific, therapeutic and cultural developments of cannabis, is the basis of Newsweed's work. And we've been striving to do so on a daily basis since 2015.

The genesis of Newsweed

Newsweed was founded in 2015 by Aurélien BERNARD. Launched on April 20 as an informative blog, we realized that there was no French-language source of information on cannabis. 3 months after our launch, Snoop Doog launched his own cannabis media, MerryJane.com. We were right on target!

Audience growth, the interest of the French and Francophone community and the international context have driven us to grow into a true media brand.

Beyond the site's own editorial sphere, we've been testing out different video formats: Youtube newscasts, vaporizer tests, «infused» dinners, interviews for other media or TV shows... We also travel regularly to European cannabis fairs, and have contacts with all the players in the field, in France of course, but also abroad.

Our editorial line

Newsweed follows a rigorously neutral and independent editorial line. We advocate neither the legalization of cannabis in France, nor its use. Our mission is to inform: on markets, regulations, science, public health and industry players.

Newsweed is a member of Independent Online Press Union (SPIIL) and referenced on Google News.

The founder

Aurélien Bernard has been a cannabis journalist since 2015. Founder and editor-in-chief of Newsweed, he is recognized as an expert on cannabis in France and Europe: international regulations, emerging markets, medical cannabis, CBD.
