GPro vaporizer test
The GPro is a portable vaporizer from Grenco Science. You may have already seen it in a version featuring the colors of Snoop Dogg.
GPro Design
The GPro is a portable, pen-shaped vaporizer. Similar in appearance to standard e-cigarettes, it features a simple, comfortable design. Its silicone finish feels pleasant to the touch, and its size is very reasonable—it will easily fit in your jacket pocket, for example.
The combustion chamber is located beneath the mouthpiece, which you remove by tilting it to the side to fill the vaporizer. The screen also fits into the mouthpiece, which makes it much easier to replace. The chamber can hold up to 1g of dried herb, but be careful not to overfill it, or you risk producing very thick smoke. The mouthpiece is made of plastic, and you may want to cover it with one of the mouthpiece covers included with the GPro to avoid feeling too much heat in your mouth.
GPro Features
The GPro comes with:
- 1 plastic mouthpiece
- 5 grids
- 3 mouthpieces
- 2 long mouthpieces
- 1 mini-USB charger
- 1 stick for cleaning the combustion chamber
- 1 card grinder
The GPro has only one button to control the vaporizer. Five clicks to turn it on and off, and one long click to change the temperature. There are three selectable temperature settings:
- 120° – red LED
- 193° – green LED
- 215° – blue LED
It's best to start with the medium setting and switch to the third setting toward the end of the session to get the most out of it.
Using the GPro
The GPro takes a little while to heat up. However, you’ll quickly feel the heat passing through the vaporizer and into the plastic mouthpiece, which is a bit of a shame. As mentioned earlier, to avoid burning your lips, it’s best to use the mouthpiece covers. The first few times you use it, you’ll notice a plastic taste, which spoils the flavor of the contents.
The GPro turns off every 4 minutes, which might seem a little short given its 90-second warm-up time. You'll need to turn it back on once or twice to finish using it.
The screen in the mouthpiece is easy to replace. The mouthpiece comes off by tilting it with your thumb, which scared us a little at first. The click doesn't happen right away, so you end up having to force it to remove it.
When smoked, the vapor is smooth, with a gentle high and a long-lasting stone that leans toward euphoria. You actually inhale very little vapor, unless the vaporizer is well-filled. After the first few uses, once the new-plastic taste is gone, the aromas really come through.
GPro Debrief
We like:
- silicone material
- Ease of filling and maintenance
- the compact and portable design
We don't like :
- The GPro gets hot, and you can really feel it
- a plastic taste at first
- the beak, which looks fragile
- the price in France
Verdict:
An award will be presented to 6/10 at Gpro. We recommend it for vaping beginners, and only if you can get it for between 60 and 80€.
