Frenchy Cannoli is one of the world's leading hashish experts, a «hashish master», thanks to multiple trips to mountainous countries where cannabis cultivation is part of the heritage. This is the case in India, but also in Nepal, Pakistan, Morocco and Turkey. All these countries, visited by Frenchy, have been hashish producers for hundreds of years. charas in India, or kif in Morocco. The native of Nice now sells his products in a dozen dispensaries in California.
The art of sharing
He is also renowned for his art of sharing. Contrary to popular belief, he doesn't keep the best-kept secrets of hashish to himself, like the recipe for Coca-Cola. No, Frenchy Cannoli tries to share the know-how as best he can... even if it means reaching the ears of a public living in a country where cannabis remains illegal, like France. Frenchy had even kindly gave a hashish-making lesson to Newsweed, in Barcelona, where cannabis is decriminalized.
He also advocates a «appellation d'origine contrôlée» for traditional hashish cultivation, on the model of French wines. In a way, current events are proving him right, since Morocco will soon be authorize cannabis cultivation for medicinal purposes. And the villages of the Rif mountains, where cannabis cultivation dates back to the 15th century, will be on the front line.
As for Blackpoule, he's starting to build up a small community. His 33,000 subscribers on Twitch can attend hour-long shows during which he chats with the audience, divided between Quebecers and «Euros», and sometimes tests the Canadian legal varieties. He'll be chatting at length with Frenchy Cannoli this Friday, for a two- or three-hour show.
