Frenchy Cannoli: Discovering the lost art of the hashishins
Frenchy Cannoli, whom we interviewed here,Frenchy is one of those people who are totally unknown to the general public, but without whom the cannabis industry wouldn't be the same. Frenchy is a consultant, writer and «teacher» in the California cannabis industry. His hobbyhorse is the manufacture of hashish, and works in partnership with Aficionado Seeds for cannabis cultivation. Aficionado has several boutiques in California, notably in San Francisco, Oakland and Sacramento, where you can find Frenchy's famous hash. Frenchy's products can also be found in several other dispensaries, including the Barbary Coast in San Francisco, the Caliva in San Jose (voted best dispensary in the U.S. in 2016 by Business Insider) and the Buds and Roses in Los Angeles.
«Aficionado is perhaps the first cannabis manufacturing company to position its marketing strategy and quality control of its breeding program,» he explains on his Facebook page. «This working relationship mirrors the relationship between a winemaker and a winemaker. Their common goal is to transmit not only the complete essence of the plant, but also the land in which it grew.»
The best hashishin in the world
Frenchy angles the discovery of the science of hashish through the traditional methods of making cannabis resin. He also compares the wine industry business model, This is the first time that we've been able to combine the concept of «terroir», including the notion of "terroir", with the one that cannabis should follow.
«When people start to understand what the cannabis plant can do and realize how immense it can be. Then, when you connect the different parts of the planet together, where there's a different relationship and you put them together, you see Europe and what's going on there. That's where you are, and it gives you a stronger image. We can change the face of the planet, and we can change the economy too,» he assures us.
