California's first cannabis expo to open in April
Attention California and cannabis enthusiasts. The first exhibition on the uses and’changing attitudes to cannabis will open in Oakland on April 16 and run until September 25. Entitled Altered State: Marijuana in California, The exhibition will feature artworks, political documents, scientific reports and multimedia files, all designed to provoke questions and conversations about the provocative plant.
The exhibition will explore different viewpoints on cannabis, including historical perspectives, It will be divided into the following sections: the science of cannabis, therapeutic cannabis, the economics of cannabis, sacred cannabis, criminality, an overview of the cannabis world, and the role of cannabis in society. It will be divided into 10 parts (the science of cannabis, therapeutic cannabis, cannabis in economic terms, sacred cannabis, crime, a creative grass, demonic weed, politics and cannabis, youth and marijuana, and will give visitors the chance to add their own voices to the writings already present.
«We've designed an open, participatory experience to attract anyone who has an opinion or wants to learn about complex issues and is looking for information on this topic that's important to all Californians,» explains one of the exhibition organizers.
In detail, cannabis specimens will be present on site, and an installation by artist Cybele Lyle will alter visitors« perspectives of space and time. A " Cannabis confessional » will leave visitors free to share their thoughts on cannabis. The exhibition content has been gathered from a variety of sources, including researchers, growers and dispensaries.
«The roles of museums have changed,» says the director of the Oakland Museum of California (OMCA). «At OMCA, we have a duty to inspire Californians to create a better future for themselves and their loved ones. As part of that, we want to be a place where people can learn about complex topics and, more importantly, add their voices and stories to the debate. The exhibition is living proof of that.».
With cannabis in the news more and more, and the various American states that legalize Focusing in turn on the medical and recreational uses of cannabis, the exhibition will enable everyone to explore the latest data on cannabis across different spectrums.
