Cameron Jibril Thomaz was born in September 1987 in Minot, North Dakota. His military parents relocated according to missions, and little Wiz grew up in Germany, England and Japan, until he finally settled in Pittsburgh, Kansas.
His stage name derives from the words «wisdom» and Khalifa from the Arabic word for «successor».
The rapper launched his rap Game career in 2005, releasing a series of mixtapes and EPs before exploding onto the scene in 2009 with the track Black and Yellow. The hit, an ode to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Superbowl final, catapulted him into the spotlight.
The covers of his first two albums, «Rolling Paper» and «O.N.I.F.C», reflect his character. A shrimp-like body, tattooed from top to bottom, a joint in his mouth: along with the likes of Tyga, 2chainz and Big Sean, he embodies a new generation of rappers. Gone are the days of big muscles and girls galore, and Rap Game godfathers such as 50 Cent, Ludacris and Rick Ross.
But Wiz cultivates his difference with the other big names of the moment and the visual and lyrical omnipresence of weed. The green plant is his subject. In an interview with Al Lisdrom, he declares in comparison with other drugs: «When you smoke, you shoot, you share. That's what weed is all about, sharing.»
Rolling Papers by Wiz Khalifa
His «daytoday» YouTube videos allow him to share his cannabic orgies with his audience and express himself freely. Any opportunity is a good one to pull out one of his 30 daily joints, This is the equivalent of 10000$ per month.
Beyond his music and his business, Wiz Khalifa embodies for many a
a relaxed and joyful relationship with cannabis. His
publications on social networks, his appearances at events
and its collaborations with brands in the sector make it one of
of the most closely followed personalities in this world. He is regularly
cited as one of the rap world's biggest cannabis users,
alongside Snoop Dogg.
In 2014, following a partnership with The Cookie Factory, Wiz Khalifa names a cannabis strain after himself medical hybrid. Distributed only in California, Khalifa Kush is a derivative of’OG Kush. In exchange for this marketing partnership, the rapper's consequent consumption is entirely assumed by the company. distributor California.
With medicinal weed no longer enough for him, Wiz is taking advantage of legalization in Colorado to launch his own line of cannabis with River Rock dispensaries. From seed to plant, he himself served as a tester to create the plant in his own image. Recreational Khalifa Kush will be available around April 20, 2016 in Denver's River Rocks.
He also sponsors the RAW rolling paper brand. The brand's CEO, Josh Kesselman, chose Wiz Khalifa for his position as a cannabis expert.
In the midst of the growing cannabis market in the United States, Wiz Khalifa is becoming a popular brand. His album «Rolling Paper 2: the Weed album» was released in 2018.
Khalifa Kush joins the trend of celebrity cannabis brands alongside Cookies from Berner or Jay-Z's Monogram, but with a particular consistency: Wiz Khalifa has been promoting cannabis since the beginning of his career, long before it was commercially appropriate.
Khalifa Kush is an 80% Indica/20% Sativa hybrid. Its THC content varies between 26% and 29%. Rated 4.7/5 by the Leafly website, it can be purchased from Californian distributors between 12 and 20$ per gram.
According to Leafly, its lemony taste makes consumers smile without too deep a stone. On the other hand, if you prepare a drink, a harsh pasty taste will follow. According to the creator, its citrus taste and smell provide an exciting power that prevents you from sinking inertly into a sofa.
