Wiz Khalifa creates controversy by smoking a joint on Pablo Escobar's grave
While in Colombia for the Estereo Picnic 2017 festival, Wiz Khalifa found time to visit the famous Medellin and pay his respects at Pablo Escobar's grave.
With Medellin in the background, Khalifa has made a name for himself. spliff and had his photo taken, apparently paying tribute to the best-known Colombian narco.
Beyond the simple photo, Wiz Khalifa left a freshly rolled oinj among the many flowers and other gifts adorning Pablo's grave.
Regardless of his good intentions, Khalifa's gesture was interpreted by many Colombians as a glorification of the violence of Pablo Escobar. And many of his fans were quick to remind him of this.
Criticism ranged from simple «shame on you» to much more elaborate diatribes, clearly accusing him of aping Escobar's violence.
Wiz later explained himself by posting another photo on Instagram and explaining that he hadn't meant to offend anyone.
Khalifa is unlikely to be invited back to Colombia any time soon. Mayor of Medellin, Federico Guttierez, a condemned Wiz Khalifa's gesture: «This scoundrel, instead of bringing flowers to Pablo Escobar, should have brought flowers to the victims of violence in this city».
