Weed Week: Interview with JJ & Caballero
As part of the Viceland Weed Week, In the evening, we joined JeanJass and Caballero for a CBD dinner at Son of a Beast, a Belleville restaurant specializing in slow-cooked meats on a huge BBQ.
You're probably familiar with the Proust questionnaire, but it was a bit dated. So we've brought back the Pivot questionnaire, our go-to guy for French grammar.
JJ: I respect Bernard Pivot
Your favorite punchline?
JJ & C: The «Posé dans le Viano, j'm'en bats les couilles, on est rabatte» moment by Naza.
The word you hate?
C: Unconstitutionally.
JJ: The word I really hate? Customs.
Your favorite drug?
C: Weed, of course. The sweet Californian hybrids and the carbonated ones. The ones that are both carbonated and fruity.
JJ: In this genre, there's one, the Exodus OG. Otherwise, of course, the big names, Gelato, Zkittlez. And at the moment I have a Dynasty OG which is delicious.
C: Yeah, that's a really good one.
The artist you're loving right now, the young up-and-comer?
JJ & C: Youth D
The artist you hate?
C: I hate nobody, brother.
JJ: Me neither
A man or a woman to illustrate a new banknote?
C: King Heenok.
JJ: Yeah, King Heenok on a banknote, that would be amazing. Or Mob Deep's Prodigy on 500 bills.
The job you wouldn't have liked to do?
JJ: Customs officer
C: Thriller
Which plant, tree or animal would you like to be reincarnated into?
JJ: A beautiful Zkittlez
C: Yeah, let's go, the most beautiful plant of the moment, reincarnated in a Zkittlez, and bring happiness to all people.
If God exists, what would you like to hear him say to you after your death?
C: He says it's okay, you've been nice enough in the end.
JJ: Honestly, you rap well, JJ.
Okay, that's it for the questionnaire.
In a 2016 interview, you said you liked “Action Bronson videos” or “BBQ Pits Boys”. Is having “High et Fines Herbes” initially broadcast on Youtube and now on Viceland a little dream come true?
C: Yeah of course, it's clearly the audience and the media we were aiming for. We're very happy to have caught their attention. We found ourselves. Our plan was good enough and heavy enough to work.
JJ: Soon we'll dominate the world.
In the States, stars are rushing to get into the cannabusiness, either by collaborating with existing brands or setting up their own. We've seen Snoop and Wiz Khalifa of course, but we've also seen Mike Tyson open a huge cannabis cultivation and processing complex, to make extracts and edibles and open a tourist complex. Does this give you any ideas?
C: Of course, for a very long time now.
JJ: We hope to play a part in future decriminalization, and then possible legalization.
C: What's incredible is that people already know in advance that if we open something, you're going to come and get the best stuff.
How about a Cannabis Club in Barcelona?
C: It rocks, but it's a lot of work and a lot of constraints, because it's not really legal and you're always in between. As soon as everything's clear, we go all out. Let's go all out. In Washington State, for example, it's becoming a business like any other, so you use the same marketing tools as any other business. But of course, it's part of the plan to become a millionaire.
Apparently you'll be taking part in the Polytechnique party on May 19. Are you going to be hitting the Y dabs there?
JJ: We're going to undo everything. In my opinion, people are ready for anything. Polytechnic or no polytechnic, let's go. Let's sow the seeds. Engineers get along well.
