Morocco sets up a framework for prescribing medical cannabis

At the end of September, the National Agency for the Regulation of Cannabis-Related Activities (ANRAC) signed agreements with five national scientific associations, laying the foundations for the prescription and distribution of cannabis-derived treatments under strict medical supervision.

A structured medical framework

The agreements cover five major medical specialties - neurology, gastroenterology, dermatology, internal medicine and geriatrics - in which scientific research has highlighted the potential therapeutic benefits of cannabis.

This development follows an in-depth study carried out by ANRAC in collaboration with the French National Health Authority. The study led to the development of detailed therapeutic protocols, tailored to the needs of each specialty, guaranteeing the safe and effective use of cannabis-based medicines.

Prescriptions will not be generalized. On the contrary, treatments will be limited to specific conditions defined by the protocols, with dosages and quantities adapted to the patient's age, physical condition, and the type of treatment. state of health and other clinical criteria.
