Palcohol and powdered cannabis
Powdered alcohol, known as Palcohol, is made from a chemical called cyclodextrin, which reduces alcohol to a highly concentrated, water-soluble powder. Cyclodextrin is known to absorb other molecules and take on their properties. These molecules can absorb up to 60% of their weight in alcohol, while retaining their powder form. When mixed with water, it dissolves and releases its compounds.
The same process can be applied to the THC. Experiments combining THC and cyclodextrin have shown multiply the solubility of THC in water by 1000. Like alcohol, THC and cyclodextrin combine to create a highly concentrated powder that can dissolve in water. Patients treated with medical marijuana often question the means available for consuming cannabis.
