Original Dampkring

The Original Dampkring Coffee Shop is one of Amsterdam's most iconic coffeeshops, for several reasons. The best-known is certainly the scene from *Ocean's Twelve* featuring Brad Pitt and George Clooney.

But it’s also because it’s a coffee shop for both «beginners» and more experienced visitors, for tourists and locals alike. The decor is just as pleasant as the staff, and the coffee shop’s cat might, at worst, fall asleep right in front of you.

Located not far from the flower market, the Dampkring is the perfect place to enjoy a cup of coffee or mint tea while sampling some of the local specialties.

The decor blends Arabic, bohemian, and Buddhist influences, making you feel right at home the moment you step into the Dampkring. You can sit at small tables, at the bar, or at a table that overlooks the street.

The budtenders They’ll take the time to show you their products and can offer advice based on the experience you’re looking for. Space cakes (which are fairly mild, but be careful—not everyone reacts the same way) are available at the bar.

We've always been able to find a place to sit at the Original Dampkring, but its reputation and the quality of its food can mean there's often a line at the register.

Menu at the Original Dampkring

The Original Dampkring menu features 23 strains and 7 types of hash. The prices of the strains vary depending on the plant’s flowering time (the fastest-flowering strains are the cheapest) and offer a balanced mix of indica and sativa. With 23 strains, it goes without saying that you won’t be able to try them all at once. We recommend the Haze sativa (Amnesia, Super Silver, or G13) for energy-related effects, and the Chocolope or the BubbleGum Indica strains for unique flavors.

As for hash, the “double zero” packs a punch at €13.50 per gram, and the intensity—and the price—go up from there. The most expensive option is €60 per gram—not for everyone 😉 The hash from the Rif region is also worth checking out. Aisha is sweet and spicy and packs a little punch after just a few puffs.

For those who aren't so good at rolling, you can choose from about ten types of pre-rolled joints, including classics made with both weed and hash.
