Kadinsky
The Kadinsky coffeeshop actually comprises 3 coffeeshops, scattered around Amsterdam. You'll find them all here:
- Kadinsky 1: Rosmarijnsteef street, near the Beguinage and not far from the 3rd arrondissement
- Kadinsky 2: Zoutsteeg Street, in the Red Light District, near Dam Square
- Kadinsky 3: Langebrusgsteeg street
The three Kadinsky's are rather small, and we recommend the Rosmarijnsteef one, for its little table overlooking the street, which allows you to have your morning coffee/spliff while watching passers-by wonder how you can smoke a joint so early in the morning.
The decor is generally simple but welcoming, and the comfort rather basic. Numerous comments are posted about the rather average welcome provided by the budtenders, especially with foreign customers. We weren't shocked when we went to Kadinsky 1.
Early in the morning, the coffeeshops are not crowded, which will not be the case if you return later in the day. Kadinsky's is one of the most popular coffeeshops in Amsterdam, attracting its fair share of tourists.
Kadinsky coffeeshop menu
On the menu, recent varieties of quality hash (malana and caramelo), and a good selection of weed, mainly Haze and Cheese. Prices range from €8.5 to €16 per gram for hash, which isn't very expensive, and from €9.5 to €16.5 for weed, which is a bit cheaper. The quality of the weed is quite variable, but the good thing is that the sellers won't necessarily steer you towards the most expensive weed, which is also relatively often more in stock.
As you can see, our assessment of these well-known coffeeshops is rather mixed. Perhaps best reserved for those who know what to buy, but don't necessarily want to eat there.
