The Dolphins

The coffeeshop The Dolphins is worth a detour for its psychedelic, 20,000 leagues-under-the-sea interior alone. And by detour, we mean just a few hundred meters from the Leidseplein.

As you'll have gathered, the central theme of this coffeeshop is dolphins. At the wooden entrance, painted on the walls, counter and ceiling, dolphins are everywhere. The ground-floor half-floor offers half a dozen tables and chairs. The basement offers more comfortable benches, with small mattresses.

The music varies, but is never too loud and always relaxing. TVs broadcast sports and entertainment shows. The Dolphins also offers WiFi access.

The Dolphins doesn't have an expansive menu, unlike many coffees, but offers quality weed and hash. Dolphin Diesel, Haze and Kush at €15 a gram and Northern Lights at €12.5 (worth a try if you don't know it).

5 hashes are available, 4 Moroccan and 1 Afghan, between €10 and €15 a gram.

The homemade space muffins are very good and a must-try (if you can manage it!). Bangs (not always very clean) and vaporizers are available at the counter.

And also...

There was a time when Dolphins organized boat tours of Amsterdam via the canals, and you could (of course) smoke during the tour. Don't hesitate to ask budtenders if that's still the case, and if it's not too late to book 🙂
