Academy of Medicine calls for better information on CBD products

The Academy of Medicine, usually not inclined to discuss the topic, is asking in a press release published last weekend better information on CBD products.

First, recalling What is CBD and the current regulation, the Academy proposes:

• that better information be presented on the products, including drug interaction risks or the clear presence of THC in full-spectrum products, with warnings of potential positive tests for driving, or for athletes/military personnel…
• that a dose of 50 mg/day be considered the maximum recommended daily dosage. Beyond that, the advice of a health specialist would be advised.
• that regulation will ultimately harmonize the rules for over-the-counter CBD products

The Academy of Medicine also calls for studies to be conducted to determine, on the CBD consumption Smoking constitutes or not a behavioral incentive for the use of cigarettes or joints.

The Academy's communication comes as the Council of State is set to meet on Wednesday, December 14th, to rule on the pending ban on the sale of hemp flowers and leaves to individuals.

Last January, the Council of State had indeed broken a part of the decree of December 30, 2021 who wanted to ban the sale of CBD flowers. Taking advantage of a gray market at the time, the CBD industry was relieved by this decision. It must now await a decision on the merits and will learn its fate this week.

The public rapporteur's opinion, which will be purely advisory, is also due today, December 12, or 48 hours before the hearing.
