With 25% of THC, Bedrocan distributes its most potent cannabis flower in Germany

Germany's medical cannabis market welcomes a new product from Bedrocan, one of the Europe's oldest players in the field pharmaceutical-grade cannabis.

The Dutch company has unveiled Bedrocan® forte, a flower containing 25% of THC, a little more powerful than the 22% long found in the classic Bedrocan® variety, from Jack Herer genetics.

Germany becomes the first country to have access to this improved version, reflecting both the size of its medical cannabis market and the growing demand from patients for cannabis. medical cannabis with high THC content.

A more powerful product based on the same Cannabis sativa L. «Afina»

The launch of Bedrocan® forte does not introduce a new variety, but a refined version of an existing one. The product is always derived from the variety Cannabis sativa L. «Afina», the chemovar used by Bedrocan since 2003. For more than two decades, this variety has been a reference in Europe for patients and prescribers looking for highly standardized medical cannabis flowers.

The result of 25% of THC comes from adjustments in cultivation techniques rather than genetic modification. This improvement is the result of new Bedrocan production site in Denmark, a state-of-the-art facility which enables strict control of environmental parameters such as light cycles, temperature and nutrient supply, and still GMP.

According to Bedrocan, Danish growers have refined these conditions to reliably increase THC expression while maintaining the plant's terpene balance.

Patients can therefore expect the same structure, density, aroma and overall sensory characteristics, but with a higher percentage of THC.

Full compliance with European Pharmacopoeia

Like all Bedrocan products, Bedrocan® forte complies with monograph on cannabis in the European Pharmacopoeia (Ph. Eur.). The directive allows a deviation of 10% between the value indicated on the label and the actual percentage of active ingredients, a range which guarantees the consistency of medical formulations.

The terpene profile remains unchanged, an important detail for prescribers who rely on predictable chemotypic data for patient follow-up. For pharmacists and clinicians, this continuity maintains the link with Bedrocan prescribing practices already established and integrated into the German system.

From december 2025, Bedrocan® forte will be available to German pharmacists as a’active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) for the preparation of masterly cannabis-based medicines. Initially, the product will be available in bulk 100 gram and 400 gram formats, with smaller packages planned for later.

Distribution in Germany will be handled by a new partner, as yet unannounced. Further international launches are planned, but no timetable has yet been announced.
