Bedrocan unveils Bedromed, a new range of standardized cannabinoid-based formulations
Dutch medical cannabis producer Bedrocan announced the launch of Bedromed, a new product range designed to offer its pharmaceutical-grade cannabinoids in more modern forms of administration.
Renowned for more than two decades for the production of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) derived from cannabis, the company is now extending its expertise beyond the supply of raw flowers and APIs.
The range Bedromed offers standardized cannabinoid-based formulations derived from Bedrocan's well-established genetics and manufacturing processes. According to the company, the aim is to provide doctors and patients with more precise dosing tools, while maintaining the strict quality standards that have made the Bedrocan name a benchmark in European medical cannabis markets.
Bedrocan indicates that the first products will be available for distribution from’August 2026, initially in Germany, with expansion to other markets planned at a later date.
Two administration formats : Bedromed spray and Bedromed drops
At the time of its launch, the Bedromed range will include two forms of administration: Bedromed drops and Bedromed spray. Both are designed to offer a range of THC:CBD ratios, including formulations with high CBD content, balanced and high THC content.
The company positions these formats as a means of promoting simpler, more predictable administration, particularly for patients who need flexible adjustment and stable dosing.
Bedromed drops are developed for oral administration and formulated on the basis of the’Bedrocan® cannabis API, Bedrocan's flagship product. They are a versatile solution that can be used either for direct distribution or for compounding in pharmacies, depending on national regulations.
The drops are available in several formulations, such as :
- THC-dominant 25 mg/mL THC
- Balanced 10 mg/mL THC + 10 mg/mL CBD
- Balanced 25 mg/mL THC + 25 mg/mL CBD
All drop formulations use’MCT oil as a carrier oil and are derived from Bedrocan® variety, from Cannabis sativa L. «Afina», a Jack Herer.
In addition, the Bedromed spray is designed for sublingual administration and combines Bedrocan® and, in certain formulations, Bedrocan®.’Bedrolina® cannabis API. The spray is marketed as offering a rapid effect and predictable dosage, thanks to what the company describes as an exclusive technology designed to optimize absorption and stability.
Spray products include :
- THC-dominant 20 mg/mL THC
- Balanced 10 mg/mL THC + 10 mg/mL CBD
- CBD-dominant 20 mg/mL CBD
The spray uses a oil-in-water emulsion LCT, and its raw materials include Cannabis sativa L. «Afina» (Bedrocan®) and Cannabis sativa L. «Janna» (Bedrolina®).
A strategy based on standardization and production in compliance with EU GMP
Bedrocan insists that Bedromed will follow the same philosophy that has forged its reputation: strict batch-to-batch consistency, pharmaceutical-grade traceability and regulated production.
All Bedromed products are manufactured in compliance with EU-GMP, The company emphasizes «complete traceability, from the original plant to the final product» and documented controls throughout the production process.
For Bedrocan, this end-to-end supervision is presented as a means of reducing supply chain inconsistencies and reassuring prescribers and regulators in an increasingly competitive European medical market.
The CEO Jaap Erkelens presented the launch as a strategic expansion of the company's reach:
«The launch of Bedromed represents a significant expansion of our portfolio, enabling us to bring our trusted API closer to patients while delivering on our fundamental commitment to API supply. By offering new cannabinoid-based formulations, we are ensuring that the pharmaceutical-grade consistency for which we are renowned is now available in modern, patient-friendly administration formats.»
Distribution model and market positioning
Unlike many consumer brands entering the cannabinoid market, Bedrocan specifies that Bedromed will follow a strictly pharmaceutical distribution model. Products will be supplied only to authorized distributors and pharmacies, and not directly to patients.
Each product will be offered in 30 ml format, designed to correspond to a typical 30-day treatment cycle. This choice of packaging also suggests that Bedrocan aims to position Bedromed as a solution suitable for both reimbursement systems and private markets, depending on national regulatory frameworks.
With Germany as its first market, Bedrocan appears to be targeting Europe's largest and fastest-growing medical cannabis ecosystem, where demand for standardized extracts and non-flower formats continues to increase.

Bedromed's arrival marks a strong symbolic step in the professionalization of our sector. Seeing a historic player like Bedrocan separate its flower production activity from its division dedicated to finished pharmaceutical products (backed up by clinical trials) is a positive signal for the industry as a whole.
This shows that the market is reaching maturity: we're moving from a purely horticultural approach to strict molecular stability requirements. It is precisely this rigor and traceability that will eventually enable cannabinoids to be fully integrated into conventional care regimens. A necessary development to reassure the medical profession and guarantee patient safety.
