Netflix to air a series about a weed dispensary from August 25
Chuck Lorre, creator of some really great TV shows The The Big Bang Theory and My Uncle Charlie, is back with Disjointed. This Netflix series will premiere on August 25. Kathy Bates will play Ruth, the manager of the medical cannabis dispensary «Ruth’s Alternative Caring» in Los Angeles. Alongside her son, played by Aaron Clifton Moten, the heroine will try to keep her smoky business on track over the course of 20 30-minute episodes.
The trailer came out last week, as if by chance, for 4/20.
In contrast to the Breaking Bad or Weeds, the series Disjointed will cover the legal aspects of drug sales. It will feature all the people behind the scenes who currently keep cannabis dispensaries running, from the grower to the security guard—often a former military member who has transitioned to the private sector.
The cast includes Elizabeth Elderfer, Tone Bell, Dougie Baldwin, and Elizabeth Ho. The screenplay is by the 13-time Emmy Award winner and screenwriter of the The Daily Show, David JaverBaum.
Judging by this first trailer, the manager isn't fully complying with the ban on drug use in dispensaries.
For those who like the little soundtrack »I’m so High, I’m so dry» playing in the background, here’s the original by Trixie Smith.
