Disjointed: Make cannabis great again!

It looks like Netflix is on a roll right now! With its the production of cannabis strains inspired by its flagship series, The streaming giant promoted the release of Disjointed, A new series created by Chuck Lorre. Disjointed focuses on the manager of a clinic in medical marijuana «Ruth’s Alternative Caring» in California.

Launched on August 25, the series stars the talented actress Kathy Bates as Ruth Whitefeather Feldman, a cannabis advocate who has just opened her own dispensary in Los Angeles.

As for the characters, we have the clinic employees (the « budtenders«), namely; ;

• Travis, Ruth's son. He has a master's degree from business school and is returning to Los Angeles to help his mother run the clinic. He is played by Aaron Moten.
• Pete, an eccentric employee who talks to his plants and is trying to develop a supreme strain of cannabis that has never been produced before. He is played by Australian actor Dougie Baldwin.
• Jenny, another employee at the clinic. Of Chinese descent, she lies to her strict parents, telling them she’s studying medicine, when in fact she spends her days getting high and hanging out with Pete. A very zany character, she is played by Elizabeth Ho.
• Olivia, a girl who left her life in the Midwest behind to move to California.
• Carter, the security guard at the clinic who has a post-traumatic syndrome after serving as a soldier during the Iraq War. He is played by Tone Bell.
• Dank and Dabby, a pair of crazy stoners who are regulars at Ruth's dispensary. They are played by Chris Redd and Betsy Sodaro. (see tweet below)

A realistic series that excels in its portrayal of the legalization of cannabis in California

Although filming for the series began before the enactment of the Proposition 64, Disjointed covers all topics related to cannabis in a State that has legalized cannabis for medical and recreational use.

We get a glimpse into the daily lives of the clinic’s employees, with their quirky slang, and we follow Ruth’s iconic lines (« Recreational cannabis is legal in California »Right now. The Gold Rush is in full swing, and one day someone will be the Walmart of cannabis. Why not us?«), Pete, who embodies the quintessential stoner stereotype, the wild cannabis commercials like the »Kush, the Banquet« ad, as well as »The Strain of the Day,” the animated sequences, and everything related to cannabis cultivation—including greenhouses filled with impressive plantations—make *Disjointed* a high-quality series with a very polished narrative.

In addition, this series presents a diverse range of realistic situations involving cannabis in the United States. The challenges and struggles for legalization, a veteran’s anxieties, and the stress, pain, and trauma experienced by patients are also addressed, as is Jenny, who is terrified that her parents will find out the truth about what she’s been up to.

A wild and sensational show for stoners (and non-stoners, too!) to enjoy without restraint from the comfort of your couch, in good company.
