Series: What if weed gave you superpowers?
And if cannabis gave you superpowers, which would you choose? Flying? Wall-passing? Invisibility?
This is what happens to the hero of High and Mighty, a series that is currently taking part in various film festivals. In particular, it took part in the latest Sundance Film Festival, and won the «Audience Award - Best Episodic Story» at the Los Angeles Film Festival in June 2017.
In this mix between Cheech and Chong and Spiderman, Chelo, played by Jorge Diaz, is trying to quit drinking and smoking. His teenage behavior has ruined his relationship with his girlfriend, Angie, who nevertheless tries to set him straight. Perhaps as a result of some clinical tests he's undergone, Chelo realizes that he has superpowers, but only when he's high or drunk (or very high or very drunk).
To find his way back, Chelo relies on his two best friends, a fat stoner and former gang member who met Jesus, and his little sister. Their help consists mainly of smashing plaster bricks on Chelo's head to confirm that he does indeed have superpowers. It soon becomes clear that they won't be much help, but more the episodes' comic spring.
The gang will then investigate where these superpowers come from, with Chelo wavering between becoming the neighborhood Latino superhero or just an invincible bum with a drinking problem.
The release date of High & Mighty has not yet been announced. But the trailer for season 1 is already available, below.
