Weeds to get its own sequel, Weeds 4.20
The Botwin family is set to make a comeback. After 8 successful seasons airing from 2005 to 2012, the show being one of Showtime's most popular, Nancy Botwin and her family will return 10 years after the original series ended, in an era when cannabis has been legalized in several states.
Series creator Jenji Kohan is not currently involved.
Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer made the announcement himself. «We're thrilled to be back in business with series star and executive producer Mary-Louise Parker in what we're calling »Weeds 4.20« , which is already in full development at Starz, as we prepare a full, integrated rollout for one of TV's most beloved shows.»
The latest episode of the Weeds series took a leap forward in time to show that Nancy was now the head of a legal cannabis company. The episode took place during Steven Ray Botwin's Bar Mitzvah, bringing all the characters together and effectively closing the series. It would seem, then, that Nancy's story isn't over just yet.
Weeds 4.20 would revolve around Nancy and her family, though it's unclear whether this would include characters like Silas (Hunter Parrish), Shane (Alexander Gould) and Andy (Justin Kirk). By the end of the series, Silas had a child with Megan, Shane had begun a career as a police officer and Andy had become a father.
