Bedrocan cannabis flower soon available as THC concentrate

Dutch medical cannabis producer Bedrocan has announced the launch of a pharmaceutical-grade cannabis concentrate derived from famous Bedrocan® variety.

Scheduled to be available in German pharmacies from summer 2026, this product marks the first time that Bedrocan's most prescribed cannabis flower will be offered in a concentrated form specially designed for the preparation of medicines.

Named Becanex PIEX Bedrocan® 70 % THC Concentrate, This extract is the fruit of a collaboration between Bedrocan and Becanex, a German extraction company.

PIEX stands for Pflanzenidentischer Cannabis Extract, This means that the concentrate retains the characteristic cannabinoid and terpene profile of the original Bedrocan flower, while offering healthcare professionals greater flexibility in preparing formulations tailored to each patient.

A wider range of treatment options for patients

Intended for magistral preparation, the extract can be incorporated into a wide range of galenic forms, including oral solutions, capsules, suppositories, etc. topical formulations or inhalation preparations.

The ability to directly spray the concentrate, which resembles a rosin, is particularly interesting. Patients will thus have an alternative to dried flowers while rediscovering the cannabinoid and terpene profile of the variety. Bedrocan® they already know.

For pharmacists and physicians alike, this standardized format also offers greater flexibility in the preparation of customized formulations.

For Becanex, This launch is a continuation of work begun over ten years ago. According to Sebastian Kamphorst, company director, the two companies had already collaborated in 2014 on the development of extracts from the Bedrocan flower under a scientific license. At the time, however, the regulatory framework did not permit their commercialization.

Germany will be the first country where the new concentrate will be available. Pharmacies should be able to order the product from summer 2026.
