What is regenerative cannabis cultivation?
As the cannabis market has opened, California has had to consider the Problems related to poor cultivation practices and pesticides on cannabis production, their environmental consequences, as well as the consumer's health. In particular, she took advantage of the legalization of cannabis last January to increase controls on products placed on the market in California.
Starting from this observation, a growing number of cannabis entrepreneurs, producers, and consumers have sought solutions to contribute to change. Cannabis cultivation has significant consequences for the environment and for the consumer. Then how is it possible to offer patients with serious pathologies such as cancer, multiple sclerosis, or even Crohn's disease, a product containing carcinogenic substances that are dangerous to humans?
Through this journey, a movement emerged in the industry: the Regenerative Cannabis, or regenerative cannabis cultivation.
Current conventional agriculture relies on the massive use of inputs and fossil fuels to consistently produce consumer goods, while symptomatically addressing situations (use of pesticides, fertilizer and synthetic hormones...).
Organic, regenerative agriculture, on the other hand, is based on natural principles and a holistic approach to creating a production system, taking into account all its components. This allows for better control and increased performance in the long term.
Cannabis grown in nutrient and mineral-rich soil, teeming with all kinds of life, is of much higher quality than that produced by current standards where chemistry still predominates.
Solutions exist, so we just need to inform, educate, and raise people's awareness on these topics.
After numerous events on these themes that have occurred in the USA in recent months, it's Europe's turn to join this movement.
During the week of Spannabis 2018, GreenGrass, a permaculture designer and specialist in regenerative farming systems, in collaboration with the 059Socialclub, are organizing the first Regenerative Cannabis Meet Up in Barcelona on March 8th from 6 PM.
This meeting will be focused on community sharing. The movement of regenerative cannabis gaining momentum, and in Europe too we must lead the movement to provide the best tools for caring for the planet, but to do so, we must also take care of people.
A moment for the community to meet, share, and exchange ideas; a way to connect, discuss, and co-create with people who care about these topics.
If you are also interested in topics such as regenerative agriculture, living soil, microbes and micro-organisms, permaculture, genetics, or are simply curious to discover these subjects, join us starting at 6 p.m.
We invite you to come with your seeds, it will be an opportunity to exchange them. with other passionate growers at the start of this season!
