Kanavape ruling: France's alleged ban on CBD is illegal
In a ruling eagerly awaited by both the two Kanavape co-founders and the European CBD, the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) ruled illegal the French pseudo-ban the marketing of cannabidiol (CBD), pointing out that this molecule, which is present in hemp (or Cannabis Sativa) has «no psychotropic effect and no harmful effect on human health».
The Court of Justice of the European Union reaffirms the principle of the free movement of goods, and therefore authorizes the import and marketing of CBD products in France and all European member states.
For Sébastien BEGUERIE on an individual level, «it's a huge relief to finally be recognized as an innovative entrepreneur and not a drug dealer». Collectively, he adds: «This is a unique opportunity for France to finally initiate a constructive, no-holds-barred debate on the status of CBD and Cannabis, and to seize the opportunity presented by this nascent industry.
For Antonin COHEN, «this verdict is an important step in guaranteeing the safety of consumers of CBD products. In 2014, I created the first CBD vaporizer. Since then, demand has grown strongly, and hundreds of companies have launched. The lack of clear regulations is preventing the market from developing in a secure way. It is fundamental to develop strict quality standards in the interest of consumers to avoid the circulation of adulterated products.»
