Silent Seeds and Sherbinski release 5 varieties

Silent Seeds and Sherbinski have teamed up to develop five new strains that are sure to delight fans of California hybrids. The lineup includes Polar Gelato, Polar Gelato Auto, Pink Sunset, Pink Sunset Auto, and Açai Jelly. What can we expect from these five new strains?

Silent Seeds x Sherbinski

It was only a matter of time before Silent Seeds, which has taken up the torch from Dinafem, is collaborating with Sherbinski, the creator of Gelato and Sunset Sherbet—two strains that have served as the foundation for numerous California crosses. Humboldt Seeds Organization (HSO) had, in fact, already released several strains in collaboration with Sherbinski: Lingerie, Sunrise Sherbert, San Bacio Gelato, Purple Matcha, L.A. Gelato, and The New.

Sherbinski, one of the most famous breeders, has contributed significantly to the rise of California cannabis. In addition to his legendary strains, he has worked on breeding many strains for other companies, such as Cookies. As for its appeal in Europe, it had discussed it with us in 2020 and was already looking to establish his varieties in Europe.

And that's exactly what they've done with their five new strains, which will be available as feminized and/or autoflowering varieties.

Polar Gelato

Polar Gelato Feminized

The Polar Gelato is the result of crossing a Bacio Gelato and a Sunset Sherbet. With such famous parents, Polar Gelato stands out for its exceptional aromatic qualities. Legal growers will find all the floral richness of Sunset Sherbet—often described as resembling a sweet dessert with notes of citrus, sweet berries, and candy, complemented by the biscuity, indulgent profile found in Bacio Gelato.

Designed for experienced users, Polar Gelato is likely to be one of the most potent strains in the Gelato lineage, with THC levels approaching 27%. It also takes after its Gelato parent in both appearance and yield. Anyone who has dreamed of adding a true Gelato strain to their collection will now have Sherbinski’s Polar Gelato at their disposal.

If you’re lucky enough to try it in a legal setting, you’ll also notice that its effects are full-body with a hint of euphoria, while remaining pleasant. Gelato’s genetic complexity—it contains 350 compounds, compared to just 60 in OG Kush—is such that its effect remains balanced.

The Polar Gelato is also available autoflowering variety. The difference, of course, lies in the fact that it does not require a light cycle and in its genetic lineage, which originated from a cross between Polar Gelato and Bacio Gelato Auto.

It will often turn out to be smaller than its parent, due to its Ruderalis genetics. These genetics also influence the plant’s structure and produce more relaxing effects.

The main advantage of this Auto version is clearly that you’ll be able to enjoy an authentic Gelato hybrid—with all its characteristic aroma and flavor—combined with the ease of growing an autoflowering strain. Legal growers will also be able to enjoy it in areas with less favorable climates than California, as its Ruderalis heritage makes it a versatile strain. They’ll also notice that some phenotypes have a predominantly floral character—typical of the Gelato genetic lineage—while others are more balanced, with a distinct aromatic profile.

Pink Sunset

Pink Sunset Feminized

The Pink Sunset has managed to capture the best of Pink Panties—created by the Cookie Fam, of which Sherbinski is a member—and a Florida OG. And it should come as no surprise that Pink Sunset offers a spectacular introduction to Sherbinski’s world of flavors.

On the nose, floral aromas mingle with sweet, biscuity notes alongside intensely «gassy» petroleum scents. On the palate, these are complemented by deliciously lemony sweet nuances. A festival of flavors resulting in an intense and unique terpene profile. The resulting extracts would likely be quite incredible in terms of terpenes.

As for the plant itself, legal growers will be able to enjoy magnificent colors ranging from pink to purple toward the end of the flowering period. Pink Sunset’s flowers are small to medium in size and cluster together in tight, popcorn-like bunches. These buds have a distinct indica structure, with a solid core and densely packed leaves. The leaves themselves are a dull, mossy green and are interspersed with curly orange and yellow pistils. Pink Sunset’s flowers are crowned with a layer of translucent, sticky trichomes that give it its effects.
