Stilla: quality through the work of CBD cultivars with high terpene yields
Succeeding in getting its products sold in pharmacies and tobacco shops—that is the balancing act Stilla Laboratoire has achieved with its various brands: ByStilla, Rest In Tizz, Seedwell, etc… Upon closer inspection, this success stems from a very simple advantage: Stilla works with hemp strains that it has carefully selected for their high terpene production.
Stilla Laboratoire, an Aquitaine-based company founded in 2019, operates across the entire hemp value chain in France. But while their end products have won over major pharmacy chains—even becoming the No. 1 brand in some (source: IQVIA 2022)—as well as CBD shops, vape shops, and tobacco retailer networks, one must look beyond the laboratory to understand the source of this success.

Stilla's Terpene-Rich Cultivars
Terpenes by design
As a company committed to quality, Stilla strives to continuously improve its products and services. One way we do this is by working with high-yield terpene cultivars. These cultivars, derived from seeds listed in the European hemp catalog, have been carefully selected for their ability to produce a high yield of terpenes—the essential oils that give plants their flavor and aroma.
There are many benefits to working with high-yield terpene cultivars. Not only do they produce a higher-quality product, but they also allow for the production of more terpenes in less time. As a result, Stilla is able to offer a wider range of cannabinoid-rich products at a lower cost.
In addition to the advantages mentioned above, terpene-rich cultivars also offer a number of other benefits. For example, they tend to be more resistant to pests and diseases and require less water and fertilizer than other types of plants.
Beyond their aromas, terpenes are believed to be more significant than cannabinoids in terms of their effects. A formulation with similar THC:CBD ratios will have very different effects depending on its terpene composition. It is this meticulous expertise, backed by extensive R&D, that Stilla infuses into its products.

Hemp extracts at the Stilla laboratory
Direct from the producer, direct from the manufacturer
Stilla’s greatest strength, therefore, lies in its very short production chain. All of the products marketed by the laboratory have been grown, processed, and manufactured at the company’s facilities in Aquitaine. The terpenes used come exclusively from plants grown in France—most of them in the surrounding fields—as do the cannabinoids and flavonoids that contribute to the entourage effect of their products.
Once extracted, the terpenes and other cannabinoid compounds are sent directly to Stilla’s in-house laboratory to be processed into full-spectrum and broad-spectrum CBD oils, beverages, CBD products for pets, or vapes. Each product is based on proprietary expertise developed over several years of work—such as a patent for e-liquids used in vapes, for example—or on in-house R&D for water-soluble CBD products.

The Stilla Product Line
Needless to say, Stilla isn't resting on its laurels (made of hemp?) and is already looking ahead to its future products. The laboratory is thus working on creating its own genetics, which it will need to register as authorized varieties before it can use them on an industrial scale. This promises even broader product lines in the years to come.
