Grey Space Art: the art gallery dedicated to surreal bangs
Mr. Grey, 21, is the founder of the Grey Space Art, a Soho art gallery exhibiting luxury bangs and pipes for wealthy weed enthusiasts.
«I met a guy who made bangs - glass and sculpted - and sold them primarily as works of art,» he says. Grey told Forbes magazine. «I thought the contemporary art world would love this field, and I worked on how to bring it to the art world».
As you can imagine, these pieces of art don't really look like your bangs. They represent the work of a goldsmith and are sold for between 20,000 and 300,000$.
Take the’Alien Space Lander, by Joe Peters and Gateson Recko. This bong sells for 30,000$. The glass is indeed mind-blowing.
According to Grey, the manufacture of these parts is almost clockwork. The alien's spacesuit has hollow tubes that connect to those of the legs and body, and which allow water and air to circulate while smoking.
«In most of the pieces I present, this function is integrated, but this is not always the case. In the’Alien Space Lander, But it's an important part.
L’Hayabusa Satellite (below), created by Sagan Glass, sells for 110,000$. This glass bong is a replica of the Hayabusa spacecraft, built in 2003 by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency to collect asteroid samples.

The piece is sand-encrusted and perfectly resembles the original. The resemblance goes so far that it even incorporates Dichroic, a shiny material used in satellites.
Glassblowing is one of the most difficult art forms, according to Grey.
«It takes years of study, experience, successes and failures to acquire the necessary skills and manipulate glass the way artists do today. Hundreds of hours of work can be spent on one piece, and one small mistake can destroy it all in seconds».
Most of the time, these pieces are sold in headshops. For Grey, their place is more in museums or art galleries like Grey Space Art.
