London Cannabis Film Festival opens July 28
The London Cannabis Film Festival (LCLL) will take place on July 28, at the Rich Mix Cinema in Shoreditch, East London. The aim is to provide an international platform for filmmakers and performers to discuss this age-old plant, its uses and our future with it. The festival will feature a mix of art, music, workshops and discussions with world leaders in the fields of medicine, business and pro-legalization activism.
For one day, their partner cinemas will screen short films on specific themes, such as «Cannapop: A look at cannabis in pop culture», «Drugs don't work. The opioid crisis and how cannabis can help», or «Women in weed». Audiences will then be invited to discuss these issues. The festival will feature original documentaries, a selection of previews, award-winning films and cult classics.
«LCFF is a celebration of the plant, its myriad uses and the people and communities it inspires and nurtures,» says Mark George, one of the festival's co-creators. «It's an essential cultural event for anyone interested in cannabis».
Event organizers are starting to mix art and cannabis, as seen with the music festival le Northern Nights Music Festival, which took place last week in the United States, where sales and consumption were authorized on site.
This is the second major cannabis event of the summer in the UK, as the European Cannabis Week was also held in London on June 24 and 25, 2019. Leaders of the medical cannabis industry gathered in the heart of the city, in the cultural hub of Southbank Centre. The two-day event explored the latest developments in the European market and the professionalization of the industry across the continent.
