2 Chainz launches its luxury cannabis brand
The American rapper and actor 2 Chainz, who won last year's Grammy Award of the best rap performance, is launching his luxury cannabis brand, Gas Cannabis Co., in partnership with Green Street Agency, a creative agency specializing in the cannabis industry. The term “GAS» was coined by the rapper himself (and is reminiscent of New York’s “Diesel”); this is how he refers to high-quality weed: “I can tell high-quality GAS by its appearance, texture, and smoke. GAS means only one thing, and you know it when you try it.”.
Cannabis and Luxury: The California Dream
The Atlanta-based rapper is known for being an avid weed enthusiast. The show Most Expensive Shit We’ve seen him try all sorts of things at exorbitant prices, including bongs worth tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars. In one episode of the show, he is seen trying the most expensive strains of weed on the market alongside Dr. Dina, Snoop Dogg’s personal medical cannabis supplier, who, according to her, inspired the character of Nancy Botwin in the series Weeds.
The launch series for the brand's 2 Chainz is made up of premium-quality weed and pre-rolled joints available at dispensaries in California starting today. The product line will soon include concentrates, creams, and edibles. «It’s high-end but reasonably priced because I want everyone to realize that GAS is the bomb,» says the rapper. Prices aren’t listed on the website, but one can guess that the concept of a “reasonable price” is relative. Nevertheless, the rapper’s personal comments on the site convey the image of high-quality products recommended by a true connoisseur.
«What I'm trying to do is give the customer a certain level of luxury when it comes to flowers,» says the rapper.
In any case, the brand fits perfectly into the Californian spirit, where weed is part of the cultural landscape and the lifestyle with luxury brands that have a strong identity. In fact, 2 Chainz is not the first celebrity to open a clinic in California, Cypress Hill did the same recently and also offers premium varieties and evocative merchandise of the West Coast attitude.
