Florent Pagny: «I've smoked cannabis every day for 30 years».»
The next episode of the show «Divan,» hosted by Marc-Olivier Fogiel and airing Tuesday, May 10, at 11:10 p.m. on France 3, will feature Florent Pagny. The network has posted a clip from the show online to give a sneak peek of his interview: during filming, the 54-year-old singer opens up on his cannabis use.
In it, Florent Pagny speaks openly about his daily use for therapeutic purposes: « I've been smoking cannabis every day for 30 years. »It helps me stay grounded. What my mom didn't tell you is that when I was a little kid, she took me to every child psychiatrist in the area. I was—as they came to call it a little later—a hyperactive kid, a real live wire.". And he continued after another question from Marco: « It helped me as an adult. I’ve kept that nervous streak. [Cannabis] has »put me in a place where I'm finally able to handle things much better.".
Florent even named his dog Ganja!
He does, however, caution against promoting it, and immediately goes on to say on the risks this may pose, especially for young people: «EAnyway, it’s obvious that vices and bad habits—whether it’s alcohol, drugs, sex, or gambling—you have to wait until you’re all grown up to deal with them à life [major] Before you start experimenting, or else you'll just end up messing yourself up. Smoking joints at 15 is just stupid.. »

Beyond the celebrity gossip, Florent Pagny is sharing his story, which will air during prime time on a national network three days before a live special for *The Voice* on TF1—undoubtedly a first in France. It’s very brave of him, and some French people who also self-medicate illegally with cannabis will see themselves reflected in his account.
France 3 likely counted on the fact that this ever-controversial topic would spark a reaction among the French public—and thus attract a large audience. But it’s an interesting message coming between the first leg of the cannabis march, which took place this weekend in major French cities, and the second which will take place in Paris this weekend.
