420 Café (de Kuil)
The coffeeshop 420 Café is not only one of Amsterdam's most central coffeeshops, located just a few meters from Amsterdam's Centraal Station and the De Kroon brewery, it's also a very welcoming coffee shop, with qualified staff on hand to advise you.
The dark, wooden interior is reminiscent of what used to be brown cafés, a remnant of the days when customers could buy alcohol within these walls. Frank Zappa posters hang here, and the music follows much the same line, between classic rock and alternative. A welcome change from the techno played in some coffees.
For film buffs, there's also a screen showing documentaries, but without sound. High tables line the walls opposite the bar, but the best seats are at the back, where large tables can more easily accommodate groups. Beware, however, as this space fills up quickly. So come early or you'll have to wait before you can settle in.
Like the vast majority of coffeeshops, 420 Café doesn't serve alcohol, but you can enjoy a selection of teas, coffees and other juices.
420 Café menu
420 Café offers some of their own weeds: 420 Kush and 420 Haze in particular, for €12 to €14 a gram. All the weeds are organically grown. The menu is not as extensive as is often the case, but offers quality weeds at attractive prices: White Widow, Neville's Haze or Blueberry.
When it comes to hash, you can choose between Moroccan, Nepalese or Indian, for between €8 and €14 a gram. Nothing fancy, but you won't be disappointed.
Le 420 also sells a few space cakes, chocolate or lemon, for €7.
Glass bongs and vaporizers are available at the bar for different experiences.
Even if it's not a coffee shop you'd stay in for hours, 420 Café is a place where you like to stop and spend a little time.
