Amsterdam Cannabis College
The Cannabis College Amsterdam is a non-profit organization offering courses on cannabis and cannabis activism. Dedicated to educating people about hemp and cannabis, the Cannabis College opened in 1998, right in the center of Amsterdam in the Red Light District. The Cannabis College opened on the initiative of Green Prisoners Release, a group of activists in favor of the free cultivation of cannabis.
The College is not far from the Bulldog, and Green House, founded by the self-proclaimed king of cannabis Arjan Roskam. More importantly, it is located right next to the Hash Marijuana & Hemp Museum, This is a very comprehensive collection of tools, literature and instruments relating to the history of cannabis and its use. In one afternoon, you can visit two of the best-known coffeeshops (some would say: not necessarily the best), a museum and a school. A good dose of information and entertainment!
Cannabis College: the team
The warm welcome from the Cannabis College team will make you forget the dark years of your schooling. The team is made up of cannabis and hemp enthusiasts, has nothing to sell, and is there only to help you learn about cannabis. If you're fairly new to the subject, you'll get the information you need without feeling belittled. If you're more of an expert, you'll still have a lot to learn, such as the latest scientific and technological applications of cannabis.
Cannabis College services
The Cannabis College offers a range of services, almost all free of charge. In fact, the College relies mainly on donations to survive.
Activism
From industrial hemp to recreational and medical cannabis, the Cannabis College is involved at all levels of cannabis industry activism. This includes work on legal reform, community support and networking.
Education
You'll find plenty of flyers and other cannabis-related literature on site, as well as being able to attend certain events and educational courses. The team is also on hand to answer any questions you may have.
Training for coffeeshop staff
Amsterdam has many coffeeshops, which means that there is a significant need for specialized training for coffeeshop employees. CAnnabis College offers courses and training for coffeeshop employees.
Visit a garden
The Cannabis College has its own plantation of 5 plants, grown indoors with organic fertilizers. Visitors can explore the plantation and learn more about the equipment, growing methods and varieties used.
Cannabis test
Amsterdam's Cannabis College offers to test your cannabis. The test can be carried out with 0.01 grams. You can check whether the coffees have sold you what they said they would, and for locals, test their own plants. The test is based on a protocol developed by Alpha-Cat, a company specializing in cannabinoid testing.
Vaporization
Vaporization is the healthiest way to inhale cannabis. As one of the Cannabis College's missions is to make people more responsible in their consumption, a vaporization room is available. Here, you can try out Volcanoes, while learning more about how they work and the benefits they offer.
Cannabis College is open daily from 11am to 7pm.
