Appel du 18 joint celebrates its 40th anniversary
This year, the joint appeal of the 18th, originally published by Release will turn 40. At the time, the newspaper denounced the’the hypocrisy of repressive policies. Since 1993, the CIRC has been inviting smokers and anti-prohibitionists to demonstrate during the call from the 18th, attached.
In 40 years, nothing has changed; the Consumers remain the primary target audience police checks. The law governing cannabis use in France dates back to 1970. It is an outdated law that fails to take into account the steady increase in the number of recreational users, the therapeutic uses of cannabis, and the social problems caused by trafficking.
As the world gradually begins to move past the «War on Drugs,», France remains unchanged. Out of fear for the future of their careers, no politician—whether on the right or the left—is proposing a viable economic or public health plan related to cannabis.
Where are the meetings?
In Paris, the event will initially take place at Place de la République and will then move (depending on Euro 2020 matches, according to the organizers) to the traditional 6 p.m. gathering at Parc de la Villette (Porte de Patin/Porte de la Villette metro stations).
For now, only the rally in Poitiers seems to be coming together properly. The members of the IARC are organizing a gathering in front of Poitiers City Hall on Place d’Armes.
In Lyon, the association is organizing the rally at Parc des Berges, just as it did last year. With the support of several political parties, the rally begins at 6 p.m. Bredda Sound System will once again be there to rock the gentle waves of smoke.
This year, June 18 has the advantage of falling on a Saturday, which could explain why it’s generating more buzz than in previous years.
