Amsterdam Unity Cup 2016
The Amsterdam Unity Cup is a competition between Amsterdam coffee shops. This year's competition runs from Sunday November 20 to Wednesday November 23, 2016.
Judged by the consumer
After a first edition in November 2015 that brought together 14 coffeeshops, the organizers are expecting around twenty this year. The competition will be held at Melkweg, every evening between 8pm and 1am.
You might think that only a few enthusiasts and regulars would touch the different strains, but the Amsterdam Unity Cup offers a fun aspect for the lover of good weed. With a Judge Pass, you can take on the role of «weed tester».
Judges will rate the different varieties via a website. They can award stars (from 0 to 5) according to their tastes and the quality of the weeds presented. The «little players», or those who have had their fill for the evening, will be able to stop the tasting/scoring at any time and resume when the effect has worn off. Judges are also asked not to vote for varieties they haven't tasted, to avoid cheating.
Tickets are valid for one day. Easier for those with a one-day budget, but a real hassle for those staying for 4 days. The competition will be accompanied by concerts to relax and enjoy the music.
Competition categories
Coffeeshops will compete in different categories:
- The best Sativa
- The best Indica
- The best Hybrid
- The best weed with a high THC content
- The best Hashish
- the best Space-food
Beware of the space food competition, which could send you to the back of the couch as the THC doses pile up. The lists of varieties tested will be available from November 19.
