Secret Cup 2016: a look back at the first edition

As you know, France doesn't take kindly to cannabis enthusiasts. 100 years of prohibition have anchored a uniquely negative view of the plant in the minds of the French. All the French? No, because a certain number still resist the invader. According to the latest estimates, 5 million people consumed cannabis during the year.

To mark this anniversary, a small group got together to organize France's first Secret Cup. under the sign of the 710, the number of cannabis extractors. Newsweed was invited to attend and report on the event.

What did we see at the Secret Cup? First and foremost, enthusiasts who practice their passion in France and neighbouring countries. But above all, craftsmen who know their subject inside out, who are pushing back the limits of our current knowledge, and who are preparing the medical and/or recreational industry of tomorrow. There are also a number of personalities who are involved and active in the therapeutic field.

In addition to showcasing products that you don't see every day, the objective of this meeting of modern hashishers was first and foremost about sharing experience on extraction and reducing the risks associated with cannabis consumption. A number of experts were able to demonstrate their know-how in the field of safe extraction, and to present their products, which help to minimize the risks of consumption.

A dabstation was available, featuring liveresin and grass shatter (Casey Jones, Cheese and Headband 707), solvent extractions (Red Tangie, Mango Saphire, Sour Shatter) and hash (Hajdallah).

The event also featured the Haschischins Cup, with several categories:

• Solvent DHO
• Solvent BHO
• Solventless hash

11 different extractions were presented. The winners of this first edition of the Secret Cup were :

• 1st place: Diesel Dexso from Northern Light Crew
• 2nd place: Northern Light Crew Diesel MZ12X
• 3rd place: Kiki Strain from French Touch Seeds

BHO:

• 1st place: PepiBerry by Pepeio420
• 2nd place: Jack T. Rubbish from Hempulsion Lab
• 3rd placec : BIlly the Kid by Hempulsion Lab

Hash :

• 1st place Ice-o-Temple Plate by S.O.A Apes
• 2nd place: Dry Frencheese by French Touch Seeds
