Distribution of space cookies in an Indiana church
Parishioners at St. John’s Catholic Church in Bloomington, Indiana, experienced some new sensations after ingesting space cakes without their consent. These space cookies were reportedly handed out by a 74-year-old churchgoer. The story of a wild Sunday in Indiana.
Corpus Christi
Last May, six worshippers were completely out of it during morning prayers. The Sunday churchgoers felt lethargic and nauseous, even though they hadn’t tried to get high. The police had to administer several tests to the individuals who were not themselves. The results showed that six people, ranging in age from 12 to 70, tested positive for THC. The police quickly concluded that the common cause of these intoxications was the «slightly salty» cookies served that morning.
The investigation quickly focused on Brian Jones, the snack coordinator at St. John’s Church, who denied all charges and insisted he knew nothing about the THC cookies. After two searches of his home, police found small orange pills containing cannabis oil. The authorities have their suspect but lack tangible evidence to incriminate him.
«We pray for Mr. Jones, we pray for those who were sick this Sunday, and we pray for justice with mercy,», explains Father Daniel Mahan, of the Catholic Church in St. John’s. Brian went to the police station last week, facing charges of criminal negligence and possession of cannabis oil.
Unintentional High and Panic
Even if a space cake can't kill you, it's easy to sympathize with the victims of this prank. The high from a space cake is not easily measurable. While it takes longer to kick in, it is also more potent and produces different effects. Cannabis ingested through food is metabolized by the liver, a process that takes longer than when it is inhaled. That’s why it’s not recommended to eat several space cakes until the effects of the first one have kicked in. The unexpected high combined with a feeling of panic can cause some side effects, such as paranoia or anxiety.
Of course, distributing space food is not recommended without the end consumer's consent.
