Quebec can now enjoy cannabis-infused poutine
Rubicon Organics, a British Columbia-based cannabis producer, announced that its in-house brand, 1964 Supply Co, is selling a cannabis-infused poutine sauce made with rosin hash.
The new «High Cuisine» poutine sauce, available now at the SQDC for about 8$ CA (5.50€), contains 2 jars of powdered sauce, each with 5 mg of THC. Each sauce mix must be added to water and heated before being poured over fries, “couic couic” cheese, or anything else for that matter!
«We are thrilled to bring this unique product to the Quebec market,» said Melanie Ramsey, CEO of Rubicon Organics. «Our cannabis-infused poutine sauce is not only delicious, but it also offers consumers a fun and innovative way to incorporate cannabis into their culinary adventures.»
Rubicon plans to expand distribution to other provinces in the coming weeks to reach all lovers of this quintessentially Canadian dish.
Quebec has become a testing ground for new cannabis-infused edibles that aim to comply with the province’s strict regulations. Quebec does not allow the sale of edibles such as candy, desserts, chocolates, or other products considered appealing to people under 21, the legal age for cannabis use in Quebec.
Instead, the cannabis-infused edibles in Quebec include «cannabis bites» made with dates, hemp hearts, sunflower seeds, currants, and cinnamon, as well as unique products such as infused beets, beef jerky, sausages, ramen, blackcurrants, spiced crackers, figs, and cauliflower.
The SQDC states that it cannot provide details on sales of specific edibles, but indicates that edibles in general will account for just under 1% of total sales in 2022–2023.
