Hemp fibre false eyelashes: the latest trend
The singer, rapper, and icon of the body positivity Lizzo hopes to start a new trend: biodegradable false eyelashes made from hemp fibers instead of animal or synthetic materials. Since false eyelashes are sometimes made from mink fur, this a new alternative to hemp will appeal to both those looking for cruelty-free products and those who care about the environment.
Lizzo unveiled this accessory at the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards last September. The exact eyelashes that were used—the Velour Beauty Cloud Nine Lashes – are made from plant-based fibers, are 90 % biodegradable, and are sold in the United States at Sephora and Ulta.
Mayo posted her look on Instagram, using the post to give a shout-out to the brand Velour Beauty for its line of hemp-derived false eyelashes. The team behind Toronto-based Velour Beauty said these are the world’s first hemp-derived false eyelashes.

Velour Beauty offers at least three styles of hemp-based eyelashes in its collection Plant Fiber Lash : Second Nature, Cloud Nine, and A New Leaf.

Along the same lines, a British company recently launched Hemp Wigs for Lawyers. They are usually made of horsehair.
