Cannabis makes American students less attentive
An American study « High times, the effect of medical Marijuana Laws on student time use »shows that high school students are less attentive in States that have legalized medical cannabis. Students in these 23 states work 1h20 less per week than their neighbors.
This study conducted by economist Yu wei Luke Chu and sociologist Seth Gershenson shows that students lose 37 minutes a week of attention at school and 42 minutes for homework.
Dr. Leslie Walker, a pediatrician specializing in adolescents at an Oregon hospital, reports that 40 % of students take drugs during the school day. The doctor worries about the effect of the «joint» break after lunch. She also criticizes the lack of hindsight and studies on the effect of dabs, on the body.
This very recent method, very popular with young people, allows them to smoke cannabis concentrates up to 95 % of THC. It also points out that daily cannabis use does not lead to other drugs. Rather, it's the young person's willpower and the social pressure around them that lead to addiction to hard drugs.
In the documentary «Marijuana in an American Public High School».» a high-school senior rapper repents of inciting dozens of young people to smoke during his time at the school. Lil Droosie is concerned about the trivialization of cannabis and the massive influx of other drugs such as Xanax and cocaine into the school.
In the same school, one of the teachers no longer even tries to find out who has or hasn't smoked during class hours. For him, it has even become a «norm». Oregon being one of the first American states that have legalized recreational use, It's understandable that prevention for young people is not yet adapted to their needs.
One of his colleagues admits to taking them when he has a headache, but has deeper questions about the pupils: why do they need to get into such a state to go to school?
