Croatia: Europe's first cannabis treatment center to open in April

Starting in April, Croatia will host Europe's first treatment center for Cannabis.

The Sveti Martin Spa Complex will indeed open a Canabio center, which will offer cannabis-based medical treatments. The spa hopes to attract clients from all over Europe, as well as from Russia and Arab countries, who will be offered treatment programs lasting 1 to 4 weeks.

Each treatment will be strictly supervised, and the cannabis will be carefully measured and administered in the form of oils and blends.

«Doses will be prescribed on an individual basis based on a blood test conducted by a Swiss laboratory. Based on the results, the optimal combination of natural preparations for therapeutic and preventive purposes will be determined. Patients will then be examined by a specialist, and the IQcure Diagnostic Scanner. »We have high expectations. Beyond simply offering our tourist season, our goal is to capture our share of the health tourism market, which, according to our analysis, is worth 18 billion dollars,” said Branimir Blajić, director of the Sveti Martin thermal baths.

The project is led by a Slovenian company, Sigma Plus, which is taking advantage of Croatia's more lenient laws on medical cannabis. The Medical cannabis is legal in Slovenia, but it will be more difficult to obtain. The cannabis for the spa will come from Croatian pharmacies.

A week of treatment is expected to cost around €5,000, though no details are available at this time regarding the conditions it will be used to treat. The spa director did, however, mention that scientific studies have shown that cannabis is effective in treating multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, epilepsy, and hyperactivity. It could also be used to help people suffering from arthritis, diabetes, or asthma.

The treatment program will include both cannabis-based therapies and physical activities, in addition to access to the thermal baths.
