The 2015 year of cannabis
2015 was undoubtedly an important year for the cannabis world, and we're not just talking about the creation of Newsweed 😉 . The efforts of citizens in every country have converged to make laws evolve, for both medical and recreational uses of cannabis.
We take a look back at the highlights of 2015. This is by no means an exhaustive list, and you can add your suggestions in the comments.
January 2015
1/ L’American Academy of Pediatrics is asking the DEA to remove cannabis from the Schedule 1 list of controlled substances. The FDA (Food and Drug Administration, which regulates the marketing of all substances) is currently investigating whether cannabis can be excluded from this list.
2/ One year after the introduction of the legalization of cannabis in Colorado, The State confirms that all is going well.
3/ German scientists find new evidence of the’action of cannabis on cancer cells.
February 2015
4/ Neuroscientists at the University of Buffalo determine that cannabis can help with treatment of depression.
5/ The Jamaica decriminalizes officially cannabis.
6/ Alaska becomes the third U.S. state to legalize cannabis. Alaska will also be the first U.S. state to legalize cannabis. authorize cannabis consumption at points of sale.
7/ Cannabis becomes legal in Washington DC
March 2015
8/ After the legalization of cannabis in Washington DC, citizens were able to recover seized cannabis by police forces.
9/ Connecticut citizens have had cannabis possession charges expunged from their criminal records
10/ Colorado files suit 15 million for schools, from taxed cannabis revenues
April 2015
11/ Georgia distributes its first medical marijuana cards, and only authorizes the consumption of cannabis oil
May 2015
12/ The actor Morgan Freeman comes out of the closet and supports the legalization of cannabis.
June 2015
13/ Texas legalizes CBD oil for the treatment of epilepsy.
14/ A 9-year-old boy utters his first words only 2 days after receiving his first doses of cannabis oil.
15/ Oregon legalizes cannabis use for adults.
July 2015
16/ Spain decriminalizes cannabis cultivation
17/ Israeli researchers show that cannabis can help heal broken bones
August 2015
18/ The New York Times publishes an opinion column in which the U.S. Congress and President Obama are described as too timid on cannabis reforms
September 2015
19/ Mexico authorizes his first patient treated with cannabis, an 8-year-old girl suffering from epilepsy
October 2015
20/ The legalizing cannabis in Canada with the election of Justin Trudeau as Prime Minister.
21/ For the first time in US history, a presidential candidate.., Bernie Sanders, declares his support for the legalization of cannabis during a televised debate
22/ The Croatia legalizes the medical use of cannabis
November 2015
23/ The U.S. Senate authorizes veterans to access medical cannabis
24/ Illinois opens its first dispensaries medical cannabis
25/ Snoop Dogg launches Leafs, its cannabis brand
