Canopy closes its dispensaries, the Netherlands reopens its coffeeshops
Due to the arrival of the coronavirus in Canada, Canopy Growth has decided to temporarily close all its dispensaries. The closures concern the 23 Tokyo Smoke and Tweed stores, as well as the Tweed Visitor Centre in Ontario.
CEO David Klein said the company would maintain all online sales in the interim. Canopy is the first Canadian producer to announce this temporary transition to online-only sales.
«We have a responsibility to our employees, their families and our communities to do our part to «smooth the curve» by limiting social interactions. This is an important decision, but it was also an easy one to make - our retail teams are open to the public and have been handling above-average transaction volume in recent days.Given the current situation, it is in the best interests of our teams and our communities to close these meeting points until we are satisfied that we can operate our stores in the best interests of public health,» he explained. in a press release.
Patients requiring medical marijuana will still be able to order via Spectrum Therapeutics and have their treatment delivered.
In the Netherlands, the government ordered coffeeshops to close last Sunday, leading to long queues in front of the coffeeshops and a potential shortage that would be detrimental to patients who obtain their cannabis from coffeeshops. Full reverse, and reopen the take-away counters, in particular to avoid a return of drug trafficking to the streets. Some dealers were already offering grams at €40. On-site consumption remains prohibited, and coffees must comply with additional hygiene measures.
In France, some furnaces were refueling before containment.
