Survey on cannabis in Denmark

A new Danish poll shows that 4 out of 5 people are in favor of legalizing medical cannabis.

The Danish polling institute Analyse Denmark surveyed 1,040 participants, among whom over 80% support the medical legalization of cannabis. Beyond these impressive figures, the same study shows that only 5% of respondents are opposed to medical cannabis, with the remaining 15% having no opinion on the subject.

Mette Bryde Lind, head of the Danish Arthritis Association, is not surprised by the results of this study. «We see many patients suffering from arthritis, with chronic pain and reduced quality of life. They have tried several treatments, but medical cannabis can help,» she told Advisen DK News.

In the same study, 36% of Danes were in favor of legalizing cannabis for adults, while 45% were still against wider legalization.

The legalization of medical cannabis in Denmark therefore has a bright future ahead of it. As of January 1, 2018, Denmark will introduce a 4-year clinical trial authorizing a pre-determined group to treat themselves with cannabis.

Patients who qualify for the clinical study suffer from multiple sclerosis, chronic pain, spinal cord damage or nausea related to cancer treatment.

If this medical cannabis pilot project is successful, Denmark should join other European countries that have already legislated for the medical use of cannabis.

In Europe, Germany, the Netherlands and Spain, Ireland and Italy have already taken the plunge.

    The medical side is interesting.
    The recreational aspect is debatable.

If decriminalization is indeed a good thing, I would keep the destruction of any stock discovered, without fines or prison sentences of course. Fines only in the event of a traffic offence, in the case of driving under the influence of drugs, as with alcohol.
Why destroy discovered stocks? Because in high doses, cannabis is highly damaging. According to research, it causes chromosomes to break apart internally, thus altering DNA. This altered DNA will be the DNA of children and subsequent generations (if any).
This has been known for at least a decade.
It's also a pity that studies published on the net contradict each other.
Young (and not so young) people simply need to observe the physical state of sober, active people, and the state of those who consume a lot of alcohol, tobacco, psychotropic drugs, cannabis, even sugar, fat, etc. It's the best way to know the effect of anything! It's the best way to find out the effect of anything!

When we start talking about illnesses, we enter into discussions that result in abuse, failure and misfortune: there are eternally sick people, treated with drugs that cause so-called «side-effect» illnesses... This does not bode well.
The effects of cannabis, whether medical or recreational, are not very good, mentally and physically, as soon as its consumption or use lasts.
Let's just take a look at what's happening in Colorado, where cannabis was fully legalized some time ago.
According to the September 2016 Rocky Mountain report in Colorado (www.rmhidta.org):
«...The number of cannabis-related road deaths increased by 62 percent from 71 to 115 people after recreational cannabis was legalized in 2013 (...) «... In 2009, the number of cannabis-related deaths involving drivers testing positive for cannabis accounted for 10 percent of all road deaths. By 2015, that number had doubled to 21 percent...»
What doses did these drivers consume? We don't know. So, as with alcohol, tobacco and psychotropic drugs, let's be moderate about their use.

More people being tested positive for cannabis is normal if it's legalized, but that doesn't mean that smoking is the cause of these accidents! as soon as we talk about the benefits of cannabis, we always find pretexts to make sure that it doesn't go down! let's ban alcohol and cigarettes and then we can have a serious debate about cannabis, otherwise we know very well that cannabis is far less harmful than alcohol, cigarettes, anti-depressants and other drugs or simply the junk food that ruins our health every day, so let's stop all the talk about a product that should have been legalized a long time ago if we were in a real democracy!
