Denmark: Aphria and Schroll Medical partner to produce medical cannabis
Canadian medical cannabis producer Aphria has announced that it has signed a strategic partnership with Schroll Medical, a Danish subsidiary of flower producer Schroll Flowers, one of Europe's largest producers and distributors of hydrangeas.
The partnership aims to produce and distribute organic and GMP cannabis throughout Europe.
Aphria paid 160,000$ Canadian for 15% of the partnership, a relatively low price for this kind of partnership, with the possibility of going up to 50%.
Schroll hopes to produce 3000kg of dried flowers per year. The company already owns 3,000m² of greenhouses and has already begun construction of an extraction plant to transform the flowers into various concentrates.
While production will be entrusted to Schroll as part of a 4-year regulation of medical cannabis in Denmark, Aphria's German subsidiary will manage the partnership as a consultant for GMP certification, cannabis varieties and genetics, and intellectual property for cultivation methods.
Aphria now has the capacity to produce and distribute cannabis in all legal markets, with export licenses in Canada, Jamaica, Africa and soon Colombia. As for the Danish partnership, its proximity to the German market will enable it to gain market share in the European medical market.
