Cannabis can indeed cause anxiety and overdose intoxication but No one has ever died from a cannabis overdose.. Sometimes things that may seem harmless like coconuts, stairs, carpets, and mosquitoes are actually more deadly than cannabis. The consumption of Cannabis has certain side effects undesirable that may need to be put into perspective in light of the following 7 activities.
Selfies (or Narcissism)
An Indian study published in Journal of Family Medicine and Primary Care This summer reveals that between October 2011 and November 2017, 259 people died worldwide while taking a selfie. This practice is particularly deadly among young people and in India, where selfies are fashionable. These numbers have been increasing since 2011, when only three deaths were recorded, compared to 98 in 2016.
Masturbation
German forensic pathologist Harald Voss recently granted an interview in the daily newspaper Bild where he warns about the increasing number of deaths related to masturbation. He explains that between 80 and 100 Germans die each year while masturbating. Rest assured, it is not masturbation itself that causes death, but the risky practices often used to intensify pleasure, such as electric shock or autoerotic asphyxiation, which consists of strangling oneself but has the small disadvantage of cutting off oxygen flow to the brain.
Lightning
On average, lightning causes between 10 and 20 deaths per year in France. It strikes 100 to 300 people each year, resulting in about fifteen deaths. It also causes significant fires that can, in turn, lead to heavy material and human damage. In itself, a simple walk can be more dangerous than consuming cannabis.
Dog bites
A survey A study conducted under the responsibility of the Institute for Public Health Surveillance (InVS), in collaboration with the association of veterinary behaviorists Zoopsy, found 33 deaths from dog bites over the past 20 years by examining the records of a sample of French hospitals. «The annual incidence of bites requiring medical attention was estimated at 30 to 50 per 100,000 children aged 0 to 15 years,» according to the study. Generally, these attacks occur when the dog has been provoked or is suffering from an illness. They say a dog is man's best friend, but perhaps cannabis is.
Alcohol
Alcohol, this legal drug, caused 49,051 deaths in France in 2015, according to figures from INSEE and the National Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety. France is also among the countries Where alcohol is most deadly. In general, death occurs after cancer or cardiovascular or digestive diseases caused by alcohol consumption. Alcohol is also a cause in a significant number of accidental deaths and suicides. On average, alcohol kills 130 people per day in France, or one every 10 minutes.
Tobacco
Tobacco is the leading cause of preventable death in France. It is responsible for nearly 90% of lung cancer cases in France. Each year, it kills approximately 73,000 people and generally reduces life expectancy by about 20 to 25 years. According to estimates published by the National Institute for Prevention and Health Education (Inpes), France has 15 million smokers, 48% of whom are between the ages of 20 and 25.
Driving
Nearly 10 people die in road accidents every day in France, or about one person every 3 hours. In 2017, 3,684 people lost their lives on French roads. The risks of accidents are of course increased In case of alcohol and/or cannabis consumption. In contrast, these figures show how a practice that is nonetheless daily and regulated carries more risks than a practice officially designated as a health and safety risk.
