What to do with leftover weed after pressing your rosin?
During the manufacture of rosin, the dried flowers are flattened and usually set aside. These rosin chips can either be thrown away or reused to maximize their usefulness. Here are a few ideas.
Capsules
One of the best things to do with the flower trimmings used to make rosin is to make capsules. Most of the terpenes are removed during the pressing process, so the capsules will have virtually no taste.
To do this, you need to soak the rosin chips in some’coconut oil Place it in a saucepan over low heat for a few hours. Be sure to separate the plant matter from the fat.
Once the infused oil has returned to room temperature, you can fill your capsules.
Dyes
The dyes are typically extracted using alcohol. The crushed and decarboxylated flowers can be left to steep in a bottle of alcohol for anywhere from 3 weeks to 3 months. After this «resting» period, the plant material should be removed—for example, by straining the mixture through cheesecloth. The remaining liquid solution can be rebottled and stored in a dark place.
Cakes
The rosin chips have not lost all their active ingredients. They can easily be used to make a Marrakech butter. This mixture can then be used as a base for cookies and brownies.
As a spray
The rosin chips can be reused for vaporizing. You’ll need to grind them thoroughly first, and they’ll produce a thicker, more visible vapor. The taste, however, won’t be as pleasant as with «fresh» flowers.
For inhalation
That's pretty much the worst way to reuse them. They won't taste very good, but at least nothing will go to waste.
