Alcohol sales little affected by weed in Oregon
The state of Oregon now allows the purchase of cannabis in specialty stores. But using cannabis doesn't mean people don't still enjoy a good beer. A study by Foursquare shows that customers of cannabis dispensaries still spend time in bars.
In case you've already forgotten, Foursquare is an app that helps you find different services around you. The company collects requests from its users and can establish different profiles based on the requests made on the application. For example, after a year of data collection, the company deduced that alcohol sales were not affected by the emergence of dispensaries in Oregon.
While some statistics show that alcohol consumers turn to cannabis smokers are not turning away from their alcohol consumption. Pedestrian traffic in bars, distilleries and breweries has even increased from 5 to 10% depending on the month.
According to official reports published by the State of Oregon, legal cannabis does not affect year-on-year alcohol sales. And according to Mashable, Colorado would also be in this situation.
The typical profile of a cannabis smoker in the United States
Foursquare has drawn up a typical profile of recreational cannabis smokers in states where it is legalized.

The data tells us that 23% of cannabis users are over the age of 55. Smoking Foursquare users tend to eat ramen to fill their foncedalle. After a trip to the dispensary, Oregonians also visit stadiums and gyms.
Foursquare analyzed the movements of cannabis users during the 420 than last year. Of these, 76% went to dispensaries, with a third also visiting liquor stores. Less surprisingly, 31% of pot smokers visit a fast food restaurant or pizzeria during the day.
